Dear Actor,
According to the dictionary, a actor is a person whose profession is acting on the stage, in movies, or on television. In order to become a actor by definition, you need training. Granted, I do believe some people are "naturals" or have natural talent, but those muscles need constant flexing . How do you work those muscles on a "smart artist" budget? Well, here are some tips....
1. Study & Watch Film & TV.
What type of roles do you see yourself in? What type of movies attract you. Watch these types of performance and envision. It is great to know great Film & TV.
2. Join a actors group.
There are plenty of actors in your city that meet up weekly or monthly and run scenes together. If you don't know of any groups, maybe you should form your own?
3. Monologues Exercises
Put yourself on tape. 1 monologue a week. If you do this for a year, you will not only have 52 taped monologues but you will also be familiar with 52 different pieces.
Hope this helps!
KD
